> GPT Ads AI produces ad creative for the six-component ChatGPT ad unit — 50-character titles, 100-character descriptions, square images — and authors the context hints that decide which conversation each ad appears under. Weekly creative drops, tested on weekly cohorts.

## What a ChatGPT ad is made of

| Component | Constraint | What we optimise |
|---|---|---|
| Advertiser name | Set in Settings → Account info | Spelled exactly as buyers should read it |
| Favicon (logo) | 1:1 image from Account info | High-contrast mark that survives 16px |
| Title | 50 characters maximum | One job: the outcome or comparison the user is researching |
| Description | 100 characters maximum | The single most credible proof point |
| Landing page URL | One per ad; UTMs persist | A page that continues the conversation |
| Image | PNG or JPG, square, at least 256 × 256 px | Product or outcome shot; 16:9 lifestyle crops fail |

The ad appears below the conversation, labeled as an ad, and is never inserted into the answer. Ads are shown to Free and Go users in live markets; not to Plus, Pro, Business, or predicted under-18 users.

## Context hints, not keywords

There is no keyword list in ChatGPT Ads. Each ad group carries context hints describing the audience, intent, and topic of the conversations it should appear under. OpenAI matches ads to conversations by relevance using the hints, the title, the description, and the landing page. Creative and targeting are one job.

| Pattern | Matches | Example hint |
|---|---|---|
| Problem-first | Users describing a pain before they know the category | "Teams struggling to forecast cash flow across multiple entities" |
| Comparison | Users weighing named alternatives | "Comparing project-management tools for agencies of 20–100 people" |
| Job-to-be-done | Users asking how to accomplish a task | "Homeowners planning a kitchen remodel and asking about cabinet options" |
| Buyer-stage | Users signalling readiness to purchase | "Shoppers asking which magnesium supplement to buy for sleep" |
| Exclusion | Conversations you do not want | "Not students, not free-tier users, not job seekers" |

The most common mistake we fix is a Google keyword list pasted into the context hint field. Keywords describe words; hints describe people mid-conversation.

## The creative system

1. **Map the conversations, not the keywords.** Buyer questions grouped by moment; each group becomes an ad group with its own hints.
2. **Write titles that answer the question.** Fifty characters, one idea, three to six titles per ad group.
3. **Give the description one proof point.** A certification, a number, a guarantee, a delivery promise.
4. **Produce square, high-contrast images.** Legible at thumbnail size, with variants for independent testing.
5. **Match the landing page to the conversation.** The landing page is a relevance input as well as a conversion page.
6. **Ship weekly, retire by cohort.** Judged on weekly cohorts with conversion data, every change dated in the change log.

## Example units (fictional brands, real constraints)

- Conversation: best magnesium for sleep? — **Rest Labs** — Title: "Magnesium Glycinate Built for Deeper Sleep" — Description: "Third-party tested. 400mg per serving. Free shipping over $40."
- Conversation: how to replace a spreadsheet sales pipeline — **Ledgerly** — Title: "Pipeline CRM Teams Switch to From Sheets" — Description: "Import your sheet in 10 minutes. No per-seat pricing under 25 users."
- Conversation: cost to replace kitchen cabinets — **Hearthline** — Title: "Kitchen Cabinet Quotes in 48 Hours" — Description: "Licensed installers. Fixed-price quotes. 4.9★ from 2,100 remodels."

## FAQ

**What does a ChatGPT ad look like?** A single compact, labeled card below a relevant conversation, built from six components: advertiser name, favicon, a 50-character title, a 100-character description, a landing page URL, and one square image.

**Who sees ChatGPT ads?** Free and Go users in live markets. Not Plus, Pro, or Business users, and not predicted under-18 users.

**What are context hints?** The targeting layer: descriptions of audience, intent, and topic that OpenAI's relevance-weighted system uses, together with copy and landing page, to match ads to conversations.

**How is ChatGPT ad copy different from Google Ads copy?** One 50-character title and one 100-character description, written as a direct response to the conversation rather than a slogan.

**Can you use my existing Meta or Google creative?** Rarely as-is. We adapt the proof points and rebuild assets for the square, text-led unit.

**How many ads and hints per ad group?** Several ads so titles and images can be tested; a tight hint set describing one buyer moment.

**Do you handle the advertiser name and logo?** Yes — both render in every unit and are checked before launch.
